Features
Full Featured. Easy To Use.
Eve For Enterprise is a hosted service, with a simple CPM pricing model. The only usage metric you need to concern yourself is page views. We provide unlimited bandwidth, disk space, and memberships. The following is a brief synopsis of features.
Membership Management
- OneCommunity
Eve's OneCommunity™ API allows you to integrate the Eve membership with your own (existing) membership database. Your database becomes the master that controls member authentication.
- Registration Control
You have total control over the registration process. Eve includes options to moderate (approve) membership requests, require verified emails for all new registrants, set age limits (and require parental approval, if desired), customize the profile information you wish to collect, require approval of your terms of service, and to ban specific IP addresses or email addresses.
- Powerful User and Group Permission System
You will be amazed by the power and flexibility of the eve permission system. There are a myriad of permissions that control specific features and access to specific areas in the community. You can assign permissions to specific groups (create as many as you like) or to specific members.
- One Login for Entire Community
Every feature and content area within eve is controlled by the membership system. This means that no matter whether your members typically access your community via a chat room, an instant topic, or a forum, eve is seamlessly handling authentication and login, preventing users from having to login more than once per session.
Community Content
- Discussion Topics
Discussion topics (forums) are the lifeblood of most communities. Through discussion topics, your community members can interact with each other, regardless of when they happen to be on line.
- Photo Albums
With photo albums, your community members can upload collections of pictures. Thumbnails are automatically created for the “Gallery” view, while a slideshow view provides the pictures at full size. Community members can also comment on the photo albums.
- Chat
Eve's chat rooms support moderated chats, scheduled chats, celebrity designation, private chats, and member-to-member whispers.
- Polls
With polls, your community members can vote on a particular question. Comments are also supported on polls.
- Private Messaging
Private messaging is a means for community members to talk to each other outside the realm of the public community. Members never have to know each other's email, so this is a more secure way of having a private conversation within a community. Multiple members can participate in a private message.
Administrative Tools
- Content Moderation
Any piece of content posted to your community may be moderated (subject to approval before publication). This includes discussions, polls, photo albums, attachments, pictures, and comments/replies.
- 360° View of Members
Eve makes it easy for you to manage each and every member of your site. Admins can get a 360° view of each member by accessing the member's Personal Zone. There, aside from profile information, the admin can perform administrative actions on the user (attach a note about the user for admin use only, ban the user, set a custom user title, etc.), view the user's settings (notifications, preferences) and groups, and view and edit all eve permissions for the user.
- Automatic Content Maintenance
Community administrators can automate the process of deleting old content items from the community.
- Community Reporting
From chat transcripts to community statistics, there is a wealth of information in your eve control panel.
- Content Islands
Community administrators can feature content from the community on other web pages simply by inserting a snippet of code. Content Islands are lists that contain featured content as defined by parameters set by the admin. Thus, if you wish to create a list that displays the last 10 topics posted to a particular forum (or all forums), you simply create a new Content Island, then plug the generated code snippet into the page where you want to feature the island. Of note, you can also create RSS feeds from Content Islands.
- Instant Topics
With instant topics, you can add a snippet of code to any outside story or article and have readers instantly create or join a discussion about that article.
Member-Oriented Tools
- Notifications
Your community members can be informed when new content is created on your community using the powerful notification options. Members can subscribe for notifications across the entire community, within a particular forum, or on specific content items (topics, polls, photo albums). There are several notification delivery options, including immediate notification by email, daily email digest, and weekly digest.
- Content Rating
All content within the community can be rated by the community members, providing another way for users to discover content that may be of interest to them.
- Report-A-Post
Sometimes people say inappropriate things. Eve's Report-A-Post feature allows your community members to report content that they would like reviewed by the community administrators. Reported content appears in the content moderation queue in the eve control panel, where admins can leave the content as-is, edit it, or remove it.
- Ignore Users
Eve's 'ignore' feature empowers community members to tune out people in the community with whom they do not wish to interact. By giving your members more control over their experience, you foster a more civil community, which reflects better on your corporate brand.
- Preferences
Your community members can customize their experience within the community by setting certain preferences. Preferences include time zone, date format, “online now” visibility, content notifications, and private messaging options.
