Here are some common questions asked by SitePay users:
How does the SitePay process work?
Participating sites using the Groupee Community service can elect to design premium memberships which grant specific extras to paying members. The sites determine what features/access rights to grant for each membership, as well as the fees to charge. Groupee handles all transaction processing for the participating sites, so that credit information is never passed to or collected by the participating sites. Groupee also handles the membership authorization and deactivation for the participating sites, based on when a user has paid and when a membership expires.
For participating sites, aside from initially designing the premium memberships, there is almost no effort involved in managing premium memberships. Groupee passes the premium membership fees on to the participating sites, minus the membership management fees. For purchasers, the benefit to the system is that all premium membership transactions across any number of participating sites are handled in a secure manner by one company only (Groupee). Thus, no matter how large or small the participating site is, the purchaser can comfortably pay the site.
What are premium memberships?
Premium memberships are created by participating sites to grant special rights to users for a fee. SitePay is the link between the purchaser's sensitive payment and personal information and the participating sites. The sites determine what features/access rights to grant for each membership, as well as the fees to charge.
How can I manage my premium memberships?
Groupee SitePay makes it easy to manage all of your premium memberships across any number of participating sites. To manage your memberships, sign into the Groupee SitePay website. You will need your Groupee account credentials to login. There, you can see how many active subscriptions you have, view your transaction history, manage your credit card information, and update your contact info to ensure your memberships remain active.
How can I change my credit card information?
Sign into your Groupee SitePay account and then choose Credit Cards from the menu bar at the top of the page. There you can edit or delete your current card, or add a new card.
How can I view my transactions?
Sign into your Groupee SitePay account and choose Transaction History from the menu bar at the top of the page. There, you'll be able to view your transactions for all premium memberships.
How do I change my contact information?
Sign into your Groupee SitePay account and click on ""Contact Info" from the menu bar at the top of the page. There you can edit your contact information.
How do I change my password?
Sign into your Groupee SitePay account and click on "Change Password" from the menu bar at the top of the page.
What are the differences between automatic renewals and manual renewals?
If your premium membership is set to automatically renew, your membership will be renewed a few days before the term expires and your credit card will be charged accordingly. This is done so that, in the event there is a problem with your credit card, you will not lose access to your subscription benefits. You will receive an email notification from Groupee after the renewal is completed. If there have been any changes to the premium membership, such as a price increase, or if the plan is no longer available, you will be notified by email (from Groupee) that the automatic renewal cannot proceed and that you will have to renew manually.
If manual renewals are specified, you will receive an email from Groupee (not the participating site) 1-2 weeks before the membership expires, reminding you to renew it. You must then renew the membership before it expires. You can renew memberships via your Groupee SitePay account. Note that you cannot renew a subscription after it has expired. If the subscription expires, you will have to purchase a new membership through the participating site.
How can I cancel a premium membership?
You may cancel any premium membership via your Groupee SitePay account. Sign in there and choose "Active Accounts" from the menu bar at the top of the page. Click the link labeled "Cancel Subscription" for the particular membership you wish to cancel. You'll be greeted with a popup window, telling you that this will cancel your subscription after it expires, and verifying that you do want to cancel. Click the button marked "Cancel Subscription".
Cancelling a membership does not terminate the membership immediately. The effective date of the cancellation will be the expiration date of the membership. Thus, if you change your mind later, you can re-activate the membership again anytime before it actually expires.
What do I do if I have a billing question?
If you have a question about the nature of your premium membership (such as the benefits of a particular membership), you should contact the participating site. You should only contact Groupee if you have a specific question about your Groupee SitePay account itself, or if you have an issue with the payment processing for one of your memberships. Support inquiries to Groupee regarding your Groupee SitePay account should be submitted via our online support system.
This is not what I thought I was purchasing, what can I do?
You should contact the participating site. Groupee has no control over the design of the premium memberships (nor is Groupee in any way affiliated with the participating sites). Thus, Groupee cannot answer any questions about the nature of the memberships, the benefits that the site conveys with each premium membership holder, or the like. We urge you to perform due diligence with each participating site before making a purchase.
Can I get a refund?
Groupee is not responsible for granting refunds, so you will need to request a refund from the site that you purchased the membership from. Refunds are issued by Groupee only at the request of participating sites. Participating sites, at their discretion, may grant you a partial or full refund. Note that the transaction fees you paid Groupee will only be refunded in the case of a full refund.
What does the transaction fee cover?
The transaction fee for each premium membership covers the cost of actually processing the transaction. Transaction fees are paid to Groupee, not the participating site, since Groupee handles all transaction processing.
